Fickle mind
Once upon a time there lived a merchant in a village. The people of the village used to abuse him. This businessman who was very rich but very stingy used to be stingy even at home. This businessman has a narrow "me and mine" mentality. But his wife was very good, helping everyone and mixing with everyone. It was only God who did it, charity and religion. Poor cow. Once she made her husband sit for puja with great insistence. Why is the husband not doing anything but sat and worshipped.
Pooja was done, food was done, everything was done. Having a delicious meal, the businessman got a good afternoon sleep. So deep that even dreams fall in sleep. God came in his dream. Even God had a nice chat with the businessman in the dream. God told him, "Dad, don't be stingy. Donate at least a part of what you earn." After all the chats, God said to him, "Come, I will give you three boons. You can ask for anything you want. But remember, I will only give you three boons. Come on, I will leave." And saying this the god disappeared and the merchant also woke up.
The merchant will not understand for a moment, will whatever God says in the dream be true? Will God really give me three brides?” He started asking such questions. He told everything to his wife. The wife, being a devotee, said to him, “Ah, you are very fortunate. That's how it will be. But don't think of yourself when asking, think of everyone." The merchant ignores her advice and sits down under a tree near the house. And starts thinking about what to ask for. “How do you know if it's true or not? What fun it will be.” While thinking like this, a crow on the tree cried out in a loud, hoarse voice. The merchant was furious with him. Without a second thought, he said, "God, kill this crow, father, it is causing trouble" and what a surprise, the next moment the crow died and fell under the tree.
The merchant was very surprised. But after a short time he became depressed and said "Oh God, this crow has gone free. You will kill this crow. It is because of you that it has lost its life. It will be better if you can save it. Father, otherwise you will be guilty of killing yourself." It came to life and flew away from there.
Seeing this made him sadder and angry with himself. “Because of this crow, two of my sons were freed. Oh what your luck. Shya, we will go to another place and think carefully and then ask for the third one.” Thinking like this, he sat alone in his house and started thinking. But in his mind "our two brothers got away for free" was the same thought. So he was very sad and upset. After much thought, he muttered to himself, "Ah, it's nothing, that crow has done damage for nothing. Now what will a bridegroom get? It would be better if the gods come before us now, I will ask for three more of them" appear in front.
God says "Speak, what happened? How did you miss me?" The merchant told God what had happened and said to God, "Give it to me again." God said, "Look, you have wasted what I gave you three gifts, now I can give you nothing. But you must remember one thing, the mind is very fickle. Get control of the mind and you will get everything. Your mind is full. It makes you fickle. You are miserly, you don't think of others, you can't ask for anything for others, that's why you are not happy. Today, this attitude of yours has killed you. Now behave and earn merit by doing charity."
