Taker's hands down

 Taker's hands down

As a child, we have been listening to many stories of Akbar Birbala. Often these stories describe Akbar's ingenuity or eloquence. One such story. But unknowingly instructive.

Akbar always listened to the plight of the supplicants who came to his court and gave the right decision. Whenever there was an occasion, Baka would seek Birbal's opinion. Often poor beggars came to him expecting some help. Most people come to buy something. Akbar also helped him as much as he could. To whom I gave gold pawns, to whom I gave rags, to whom I gave sweets. Usually the time to give is more. Someone would accidentally give him a gift.

Once the court was going on. Akbar's face suddenly smiled while helping the beggars as usual. This smile did not go unnoticed by Birbala. Birbala asked Akbar about this. Akbar continued the work as “saying after a while”. The beggars in the court are gone. Some foreign visitors had come, they met, they also went outside the court. Akbar told Birbala the reason for his smile. He said “What a strange truth. The hands of the receiver are always below the hands of the giver. The receiver always bears the burden of the giver's favor. don't you see I give money, clothes etc. to so many people. Even then the taker's hand is down. If someone gives me a gift, my hands go down. Indeed, the taker's hands are always down. .. what do you think Birbal?”

Birbal smiled a little in his heart and said “Khavind, your thought is partly correct. But I don't think this is always the case. There are certainly some things that do not have a “taker” beggar. Basically, it all depends on what is the feeling in the mind of the giver or receiver. If the giver has absolute feelings in his mind, such a situation can happen on the hands of the receiver. This is possible only if the act done by the giver is done in absolute spirit.”

Badshah got a little angry at Birbala's answer. “Birbal what exactly do you mean? You don't want to say that I have ego in what I am donating. I don't understand what you are saying at all. Convince me that the taker's hands can be up."

“Khavind, of course,” says Birbal. Give me time till tomorrow. I will surely convince you.” The king allows it.

The next day, when Birbal goes to the court, he goes straight to meet Akbar's Begum. Some history tells how the previous kings had many wives, which led to their disillusionment. Hearing that, Begum gets a little scared and asks Birbala to find a way out of this. "Ranisaheb, we should go to the emperor and talk to him about this and take his promise." Begum likes this idea and takes it to Akbar. Birbal is also with him.

Begum Akbar narrates the story told by Birbala to the Emperor and asks "You will not allow me to suffer like this, will you?"

Akbar is surprised by this sudden attack. He panics, but tries to kill time and tells the Begum, “It's not possible. I will never let you go. you trust me”

But Begum is not amused by this speech, she tells Akbar “No I want a promise”.

Begum, what happened today? Akbar starts thinking in his mind. But being very insistent, he tells Begum “I promise you, I will never give you a break. If you don't believe me, I swear with my hand on your head....... ....” And as he said this, he remembered the discussion he had had with Birbala the previous day.

Even Birbal, who is standing on the side, looks at Akbar with a very happy expression.

Akbar says to Birbala “You have explained me very well. The taker's hand may also be up. Especially when it comes time to take responsibility for something, his hand should be on top. Even while receiving alms, if the receiver's hand is raised, he can realize his responsibility and his absolute generosity to the giver. From today I will do my donation with absolute spirit.”

* On many such occasions in life there is a situation where "the hand of the taker is up and the hand of the giver is down." I am aware of some cases. Please let me know if you have any such examples.
